2013 Is Making Me Feel Old

Even though the New Year has come and gone, I can’t help but feel that the year 2013 feels incredibly surreal – like something from the future. Most likely it is denial that the 2000’s have ended, the nineties were two decades ago, and most of all, that my youth is escaping me. While watching an episode of Buffy this weekend, I realized it started in 1996 – which just doesn’t feel like it is that long ago. But it is.

As if that realization wasn’t enough, this Buzzfeed article popped up this morning: 34 Things From 2012 That Made You Feel Old.

Wendy’s has changed it’s logo? S Club is reuniting? Lizzy Maguire had a baby? But what feels like the craziest of all is that there are now teenagers in this world that were born after Y2K happened!

At least we can count on some things staying the same.

Here are some quotes that help me deal with the fact that we’re all aging:

You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream. – C.S. Lewis

It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are. – E.E. Cummings

You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough. – Mae West

The best is yet to be. – Robert Browning
