9 Will Smith Quotes to keep you Inspired

 Will Smith Life Quote

“Throughout life people will make you mad, disrespect you and treat you bad. Let God deal with the things they do, cause hate in your heart will consume you too.”

That’s how it is for everyone of us. “Throughout life”, meaning life doesn’t stop for any of us.  And along with that, the 7 billion people on this planet are all here to stay, and some of them are bound to make you feel less-than-stellar, one time or another.

So don’t get too affected by them or even allow them to bring you down. Just let it go, and move on with life. Let God, or well if you don’t believe in God, let the universe deal with them on its own.

will smith money quote“We spend money that we do not have, on things we do not need, to impress people who do not care.”

Is money controlling your life? Are you working hard for money to get luxuries and other stuff for a certain kind of image you want to portray?

Money is important in life, but it’s more important to not be consumed by it. Remember that there’s more to life than just buying things. Go out and live.

will smith mediocrity ali quote“Being realistic is the most common path to mediocrity.”

Hey nothing wrong with being realistic. We’re only human.

But don’t ever let the idea of being realistic hold you back. Being realistic doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take risks. It shouldn’t scare you! Don’t be mediocre. Work hard for what you want, even if what you want seems crazy to others.

will smith happy“Money & success don’t change people; they merely amplify what is already there.”

You’re totally special and entirely amazing the way you are. You have unique talents.

You have natural abilities. They all make up for the only [insert your name] that is in this world.

Too bad that a lot of people think money and a proven track record are needed to soar in life. You don’t. Give yourself a chance, and try, you can pretty much do anything.

will smith quote about life“Stop letting people who do so little for you control so much of your mind, feelings & emotions”.

Stop caring about what others think of you, especially from people you hardly even know!

Stop being so affected by the things they say or do to the point where your mind is clouded by them and your left with nothing but unhappy feelings inside.

Let these unimportant people go by your life. You don’t know them well, so don’t let them impact you in ways you don’t want.

will smith i am legend“You can cry, ain’t no shame in it. “

If you’re sad, express it. We’ve created ideas around crying today such that people repress themselves, which isn’t healthy.

Crying is a very natural thing for all of us. Don’t be ashamed about it just because you’re human.

will smith school fresh prince“The things that have been most valuable to me I did not learn in school. “

Getting an education may be important, but that’s not all to life.

You can learn a huge load outside of school, not by a teacher. And you don’t need to be validated by grades. Grades don’t judge your degree of competence.

Go out and experience life. Your very own experience is a great teacher on its own and the lessons you learn will stick with you for life.

will smith Inspiration“The first step is you have to say that you can. “

It’s all about attitude.

Whatever goal you want to reach, whatever you want to do in life, your success originates from your attitude.

And it’s got to be a good one. Believe that you can, and you’ll never know what you can achieve in life.

And my all time favourite quote…

will smith workout gym“The only thing that I see that is distinctly different about me is that I’m not afraid to DIE on a treadmill. You might have more talent than me, you might be smarter than me, but if we get on a treadmill together, there are two things:

1- You’re getting off first

OR

2- I’m gonna DIE

It’s really that simple”

Dealing with Bullies and Haters

Everyone wants to be liked by others. It’s part of being a person. Often when someone says something mean to you, or about you – naturally, you take it personally. Cyber bullying has become a much talked-about topic, with the rise of a young generation that uses social media to target their peers. It’s crazy how bullying has changed over the past few decades.

Here is Park’s and Rec star Aziz Ansari talking about bullying.

Its not just school-aged children who have to worry about this. Everyone is connected online – and it seems like there are people out there who just want to hate on others. We see it in ‘Comment’ sections on Youtube videos, articles, and networks like Facebook.

The comforting thing is that we know we are not alone, that everyone is targeted regardless of who they are. Here is a hilarious segment from Jimmy Kimmel Live called Celebrities Read Mean Tweets About Themselves. Celebrities are probably targeted with more negative feedback than anyone – so that should make you feel a little bit better when you get hit with some hater mail.

Here is the newest segment: Celebs Read Mean Tweets #3

Here are some quotes by celebs from Quotesqr about dealing with bullies, haters, or anyone else trying to bring you down:

Love your haters – they’re your biggest fans. – Kanye West

Always speak your mind, and be bold, and be obnoxious and do whatever you want and don’t let anyone tell you to stop it. – Chelsea Handler

Don’t waste your energy trying to change opinions. Do your thing and don’t care if they like it. – Tina Fey

Give the haters the finger and be true to yourself. You can’t be a victim. You have to be a warrior. – Ke$ha

2013 Is Making Me Feel Old

Even though the New Year has come and gone, I can’t help but feel that the year 2013 feels incredibly surreal – like something from the future. Most likely it is denial that the 2000’s have ended, the nineties were two decades ago, and most of all, that my youth is escaping me. While watching an episode of Buffy this weekend, I realized it started in 1996 – which just doesn’t feel like it is that long ago. But it is.

As if that realization wasn’t enough, this Buzzfeed article popped up this morning: 34 Things From 2012 That Made You Feel Old.

Wendy’s has changed it’s logo? S Club is reuniting? Lizzy Maguire had a baby? But what feels like the craziest of all is that there are now teenagers in this world that were born after Y2K happened!

At least we can count on some things staying the same.

Here are some quotes that help me deal with the fact that we’re all aging:

You can only be young once. But you can always be immature. – Dave Barry

You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream. – C.S. Lewis

It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are. – E.E. Cummings

You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough. – Mae West

The best is yet to be. – Robert Browning

Parents still crying long after Les Misérables has ended

The movie Les Misérables was released during the holidays and proved that Christmas isn’t always the season of joy. Based off the West End musical, Les Mis is famous for its tragic setting and sometimes depressing tone. Set during 19th Century France and featuring a revolution, Les Mis is a film about struggle and hardship. The movie is sure to get many people crying in the cinema but here’s a couple for whom it was all a bit too much.

Les Mis is already attracting an enormous crowd at the box office and so to help anyone getting caught up in the melancholy of it all we have some excellent quotes. We hope they will help but if you are going to see Les Misérables we also advise taking a bottle of water to combat dehydration!

No use crying over spilled milk. By this time tomorrow, it will become free yogurt. – Stephen Colbert

Sadness is but a wall between two gardens. – Kahlil Gibran

Crying: acceptable at funerals and the Grand Canyon. – Ron Swanson (Parks & Rec)

Death ends a life, not a relationship. – Mitch Albom

Crying is for plain women. Pretty women go shopping. – Oscar Wilde

Quotes for Writers by Writers

There is nothing worse than being a writer and having writer’s block. When you lack inspiration or the pressures of excellence are getting to you, it feels so hopeless. Sometimes when you are attempting to write something trivial, it can feel like the story will never get done, even if it is something you have done dozens of times before.

No wonder so many famous writers have been associated with various substance abuse and/or mental problems. But the [only?] good thing about this problem, is that it is not a unique problem. Everyone gets it.

In this TED talk lecture, Eat, Pray, Love author Elizabeth Gilbert talks about her own struggle with inspiration and writing, and the daunting effort of writing her second novel.

Here are some quotes from other famous writers about the craft of writing:

There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed. – Ernest Hemmingway

Write your own part. It is the only way I’ve gotten anywhere. – Mindy Kaling

If you can quit, then quit. If you can’t quit, you’re a writer. – R.A. Salvatore

Writer’s Tip: Stay close to your family for the material. – Kelly Oxford

And another classic from Ernest Hemmingway:

Write Drunk. Edit Sober.

Recovering from Mistakes Quotes

Everyone makes mistakes but sometimes you’re not the one to blame. Smart-phones have a very special way of not being so smart. Auto-correct has been the source of much embarrassment and no small amount of hilarity.

Here are some of the best [via Buzzfeed]:

We’ve all been victims of text related mistakes and here are some quotes to ensure you that it’s all okay:

“A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing.” – George Bernard Shaw

“Do not brood over your past mistakes and failures as this will only fill your mind with grief, regret and depression. Do not repeat them in the future.” – Swami Sivananda

“Computers have enabled people to make more mistakes faster than almost any invention in history, with the possible exception of tequila and hand guns.” – Mitch Ratcliffe

“A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.” – Douglas Adams

Fear and Loathing in Social Media

We put a lot of trust in social media. The truth is we have to in order to stay connected and #relevant in 2012. Even if we think about the potential dangers and repercussions that are involved with what we put out onto the web, there is really very little we can do. Our choices are either: completely alienate ourselves from all social media and the internet, rendering ourselves disconnected from most of life, or we have to accept that as a society we are owned by the social media we use.

Matt Buchanan wrote in this Buzzfeed article, “If you are not paying for it, you’re not the customer; you’re the product being sold.” Instagram will change its privacy policy on January 16 to allow the sale of all your information (including photos, names, likes, etc.) to advertisers and such. But there really isn’t any reason to be super enraged or surprised by this. Facebook already does this and most people have no problem telling Facebook everything about themselves.

At Quotesqr, we have a selection of quotes about media; both funny ones and others that will make you start thinking about how you use social media and impact it has on your life.

Favorite [Longer] Quotes

Quotesqr is all about bite-sized sayings. The quotes we post on our website are intentionally concise to fit beautifully onto our squares. But in reality, there are so many other quotes that are just a little bit too long for us to use. Here are some of our favorite ones:

The Holstee Manifesto

Three guys in New York founded the Holstee Manifesto after the recession in 2009. They wanted to create a lifestyle within their company as they dove into design and production. After a few months, they wrote down exactly what they wanted from life and how to create a company that, ‘breathes that passion into the world everyday. It was a reminder of what we lived for. The result became known as the Holstee Manifesto.’ [via Holstee]

This is the message they came up with:

This is the video that goes with it. It has been viewed more than 60 million times.

Quotes To Help You Keep Your Head While Dating

love-dating

There’s no doubt that trying to navigate through the dating scene can be as difficult as proving Azkaban actually exists ( Yes that’s a Harry Potter reference. Don’t judge).

Nothing is as exciting, scary, and downright nauseating as getting ready for that first date. But some aspects of dating are rapidly changing. More and more people are meeting their significant other through some sort of online channel (the virtual blind date if you will)  which makes sense considering how integrated social media has become in our lives. Meeting potential dates through these new avenues brings up challenges of their own. Then once you’re actually on the date, you have the task of figuring out what’s appropriate in these modern times. Are you a chauvinistic pig if you pay for the date and open the door for her? Or is she going to walk away, bobbing her head, singing “I don’t want no scrubs” if you don’t? And how long do you wait for the first kiss and all other firsts? Are they going to disappear off the face of the earth if you wait too long? Are they still going to respect you if you don’t wait? Now you’re starting to understand the Azkaban analogy. Dating is a complex organism. And unfortunately, the only way to figure out what makes you happy is through trial and error. But fear not, we have some quotes that will keep you entertained while you filter through the keepers and the “see yah later!”s.

” ‘Busy’ is another word for ‘asshole.’ ‘Asshole’ is another word for the guy you’re dating.” – Greg Behrendt

“If a man whistles at you, don’t respond. You are a lady, not a dog.” – Adele

“The saddest thing for a girl to do is to dumb herself down for a guy.” – Emma Watson

And here’s Jenna Marbles’ take on whether nice guys really do finish last (Warning: Some explicit content.  Although we love us our Jenna Marbles, she has a bit of a trucker mouth)

Sometimes a star comes around who is so imminently quote-able and inspirational that we need to put that person in a category of their own. “I still have my feet on the ground, I just wear better shoes.” – Oprah

“What we dwell on is who we become.” – Oprah

“The greatest discovery of all time is that a person can change his future by merely changing his attitude.” – Oprah

“I believe that one of life’s greatest risks is never daring to risk.” – Oprah
